Call us if your employer has terminated you, laid you off, or demoted you for reasons you believe are illegal; that is, because of your age, gender, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, taking of protected medical/family leave, or for complaining to your boss about your working conditions. Also, we want to know if your employer has harassed or discriminated against you in the terms and conditions of your job, as that may be grounds to file a claim for compensation.
All Americans enjoy the protections of our Civil Rights laws. Among other things, you have the right to free speech, the right to petition your local, state or federal government for redress of grievances, and the right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures of your person and property. Call us if you believe your government authorities have violated your Civil Rights.
If you or someone you care about suffered injuries, property damage, lost earnings, and incurred medical bills through someone else’s fault (bad driving, dangerous property conditions, assault), call us first. We will give your case personal attention from beginning to end and keep you fully informed through each phase of the case.
Although we do not take serious felony cases such as homicide or sexual crimes, we can handle most lesser criminal matters, including assault and battery, DUI and unlawful marijuana cultivation on either a fixed-fee or hourly basis, whichever is most workable for our clients. Call us for a free discussion of your criminal matter.
OUR OPENING STATEMENT
Hello and thank you for logging on to my website.
I take tremendous pride in the work I do for my clients. I get to know each client personally, take time to understand their legal problems, and always strive to take the fear out of the legal process so that we can work together on the process.
I have been in continuous law practice in California since 1996. Before opening my own shop in February 2009, I spent 13 years working for distinguished Northern California law firms on both sides of the counsel table (Plaintiff and Defendant). I handled everything from landlord-tenant eviction cases to million-dollar injury claims.
Because of my experience on both sides of the lawsuit process, I bring depth and perspective to my cases, things my past clients have told me was invaluable to them.
I am flexible on compensation terms, and am always available to my clients via phone, text or email. Please give me a call today to discuss your situation and I’ll put my 20 years of experience and success to work for you.
Watts Law client, a college-age young man, sustained multiple injuries when his bicycle was struck by a car in downtown Sacramento. The driver’s insurance company denied the claim initially, saying Doug’s client had been riding his bicycle negligently. With the help of a local accident reconstruction expert, Doug convinced the driver’s insurance company to change course, accept liability for the accident, and pay Doug’s client a strong five-figure settlement.
Watts Law client, an over-60 male with a physical handicap, retained Doug after his well-known company suddenly terminated him as Manager and replaced him with a far younger, far less-qualified worker. Working in tandem with another highly-regarded attorney, Doug uncovered evidence of age and disability discrimination committed by the company’s managers. After taking the client’s company to Court, Doug and his co-counsel negotiated a large settlement for this client.
